This Z-Move (after a boost from Swords Dance) enables Lycanroc to tear apart numerous commonly used Pokemon such as Mega Charizard Y, Thundurus, Zapdos, Volcarona, Dragonite, and Mega Salamence as they share a weakness to Rock (in Charizard and Volcarona's case, it is a x4 weakness). Best of all, Lycanroc lucked out by being one of the Pokemon that got its own exclusive Z-Move, Splintered Stormshards. What's more, is that the return of move tutors gives all the Lycanroc forms moves that give them excellent coverage such as Drill Run which helps them effectively handle Steel-types as well as opposing Rock-types (both of which were able to wall Lycanroc easily). For starters, it has an excellent ability in Tough Claws which raises the power of its physical contact moves, so while it can learn all the moves its Midday form can (including the only Rock-type priority move, Accelerock), Lycanroc Dusk is able to hit things harder with those physical contact moves thanks to its Tough Claws ability. Despite having near identical stats, Lycanroc's Dusk form is still able to carve a niche for itself by being able to do things Midday Lycanroc cannot. All in all, it's a good thing Dusk form Lycanroc has the near same stats as its Midday form since it performs better in competitive battle than Lycanroc's Midnight form does. It shares the same bulk and defense stats, although its attack stat is 2 points higher and its speed is 2 points lower than Midday Lycanroc. Statwise, Dusk form Lycanroc is practically unchanged stats from its Midday form. ![]() But now that those games are out, we're finally able to see how good Lycanroc Dusk is and how it compares to its evolutionary siblings. Like Ash-Greninja, Lycanroc Dusk form originally debut in the anime (coincidentally also under the ownership by Ash), so it was difficult to determine what it would be capable of until it was revealed it'd be appearing to be in Ultra Sun and Ultra Moon. While its Midday and Midnight forms could be seen as parallels to Umbreon and Espeon (since their evolutions are triggered by the time of day), Rockruff diverges from this typical path by gaining a new evolution that can only evolve at a certain time during the evening (or dusk, hence why its new form is called that). ![]() Looks as though Rockruff is getting a sort of Eevee treatment, as it seems to have gotten an additional evolution to the two it already has.
